Cleanup site to be determined. Cleanup times will be from 8:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. on September 21 and 8:00a.m. to noon on September 22. Volunteers should contact the coordinator for details.

The Winston County Smith Lake Advocacy is planning a cleanup from Duncan Bridge North to the Headwaters of the Sipsey on Friday, June 17th and Saturday, June 18th. The cleanup is scheduled for 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. and volunteers can register and pick up trash bags at three locations: Lakeshore Marina, Old Yellow Creek Marina and Clear Creek Recreation Area.
Volunteers are also needed to work on boats for the cleanup day. No white styrofoam or boathouse platforms will be accepted, and no trash will be accepted unless from the sloughs on Smith Lake.

The mission of the Advocacy is to preserve and protect the environmental quality of Lewis Smith Lake and its tributaries through education of the public and the promotion and implementation of sound environmental practices.

Come out on April 30th to help keep Smith Lake clean
The Winston County Advocacy has announced the Spring Clean Up for April 30th this year. Volunteers can come out from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. to collect trash and help keep Smith Lake clean.
There are 5 locations where volunteers can meet to pick up trash bags, located around the lake. Look for the balloons that mark meeting spots near Rock Creek Marina, Rock Road “4220,” Sipsey Pines Rd, Bailey Bridge and the Swayback Bridge. No white styrofoam or swim platforms will be accepted this year.

The Renew Our Rivers team needs your help to remove Styrofoam and litter from Smith Lake on April 21st and 22nd. The focus of this year’s clean up includes Rock Creek, Crooked and Little Crooked Creeks and White Oak. The cleanup will begin at 8:00 A.M. on each day.
Boathouses and swim platforms will be accepted at another site, but please call 387-9999 beforehand.
The collection site will be Jim Kings Boat Dockyard. Directions: County Road 22 to County Road 4006 to Co. Road 222–”go to the dead end.”
