Getting ready for a monster haul...
Jeanie Patterson was kind enough to pass on this photo of amateur angler Charlie Block and a friend as they loaded up the canoe for some afternoon fishing last weekend on Smith Lake. No word on what the boys hauled in that day.

We’ve had some great weekends at Silverock Cove as summer gets into full swing. The pool has been buzzing with activity, grills have been active and the boats are out on the water. It’s been great seeing everyone at Silverock and making new friends at the lake.
Created with flickr slideshow.
We were excited to see so many residents at the Dock at the Rock weekend–what a great event and wonderful fundraiser. Thanks to everyone who participated, we raised $1392 for the Black Warrior Riverkeeper and all of their efforts to keep Smith Lake and the surrounding watershed clean. We couldn’t have done it without some perfect summertime food–thanks to Hog Wild Barbecue for a great BBQ lunch and Little Savannah for a fantastic shrimp boil.
Thanks to Rambo Marine for a great boat show and wakeboarding demo (there is photographic evidence that I got up on the board). Check out Will’s technique with the wakeboard–he’s surfing on top of the wake without the rope and creating perpetual motion. It helps when you have one of these latest models of Mastercraft boats pulling you.
Mike with Rock Creek Stripers took some groups out and showed off some great tips and fishing spots on the lake. If you haven’t settled on a Father’s Day present, you could do a lot worse than a day on the lake with Mike. And many of you got to meet Chris Luker, our resident photographer who has captured so many compelling images of Silverock Cove and the surrounding area on Smith Lake. Dock at the Rock was a great success, and we couldn’t have done it without so many great sponsors and volunteers.
We followed up the Dock at the Rock with a busy Memorial Day weekend, and we had a little rain, but it was great to see so many families come up to officially kick off summer. We hope to see you all again soon. To keep up with all the latest announcements and upcoming events, be sure to become a fan of Silverock Cove on Facebook.
