Thanks to Dillon Hodges and Elise and the rest of the band for playing at Dock at the Rock
It’s Memorial Day weekend, and we have been busy up at Smith Lake. We are expecting a big crowd at Silverock this weekend, we are looking forward to seeing everyone!
We had a good crowd for Dock at the Rock 2012–and Dillon Hodges and his band sounded great. Thanks to everyone that came through and donated to Black Warrior Riverkeeper–we were able to raise more than $2300 for their mission to protect Smith Lake and the surrounding watershed! Charles Scribner of BWR was grateful for the donations, but also for everyone that was encouraging about the work that goes on to protect this area. Thanks to everyone for their support.
The first homes have been purchased at Point William, work is ongoing but we will have families moving in there soon. If you haven’t been by Point William, it’s worth a trip down the road or by boat trip to check out all the progress. And Point William is featured in the latest issue of Birmingham Home and Garden–pick up a copy if you get a chance.

The dock in Phase IV suffered some damage last week.
If you’ve walked down the path in Phase IV at Silverock, you’ve noticed we had a tree down that caused some damage to one of the docks. We are working on getting the dock reconnected and should have it worked out soon. Luckily no one was hurt and none of the homes were damaged.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend–we will see you soon!

Bring the kids...break out the lawn chair and enjoy some time at the lake this weekend!
Is there anything better than bluegrass and barbecue on a Saturday in May in Alabama?
The short answer is no, it doesn’t get much better.
Pack your blanket and lawn chairs, and get ready to head to Smith Lake this weekend for a great day on the lake. Pack the cooler and some snacks, we’ll take care of the rest. Sam Shober kicks off the music around 1pm, followed by Dillon Hodges and his band.
Please help us spread the word! We have a facebook event set up–click here to invite your friends to come up and spend some time on the lake.
And don’t forget there’s a $20 Day Pass to cover food and entertainment that benefits Black Warrior Riverkeeper.
Looking forward to Saturday! See you this weekend!

Dillon Hodges will be back at this year's Dock at the Rock! (photo courtesy of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine)
Make plans to come out to Silverock on May 19th for the Third Annual Dock at the Rock!
The event gets started around noon with barbecue from Hog Wild BBQ. Bring plenty of blankets and lawn chairs and spread out on the amphitheater for a great afternoon of entertainment!
We’ve got some great music lined up–Dillon Hodges is back this year for more classic flatpicking and bluegrass. Dillon has moved to Nashville and is continuing to receive acclaim as a prodigy of classic “old-time” music. He’s won 14 flatpicking competitions in the past 4 years. He was recently featured on the cover of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine. Bluegrass and barbecue on the lake is an excellent combination. Sam Shober will open the show.
And if you haven’t been to Silverock, this is a great chance to visit and check out all of our progress. We will have plenty of family friendly entertainment and our realtors will be on hand to take you through some of the recently completed cottages.
A $20 Day Pass covers food and entertainment and will go to help the Black Warrior Riverkeeper continue their mission to protect Smith Lake and the Black Warrior riversystem.
May is a beautiful time to be at the lake. We hope to see you at Silverock on the 19th!
