There’s a red house over yonder…
Well, there WAS a red house over yonder. The red house on the row of homes in Phase II has been sold and painted. A couple from Birmingham decided to go with a muted color that blends nicely with the surrounding homes.
The red house was an interesting experiment and generated some strong opinions. Some loved the strong red color, especially as it blended through the green summer foliage. Others thought it was maybe a little too strong.
The concept came from Doug Davis, who says about the inspiration for the new color:
“The idea behind the red house was to provide an accent along the long row of homes that makes up Phase II. The red color is taken form the Phase I color palettes, where it was originally painted on some window sashes. We repeated this same scheme a few doors down from the red house and then decided to paint all of the house in question with the same shade. Using the same red gives continuity to the overall feel of Silverock Cove’s color palettes (likewise, we use the same dark brown, olive green, etc repeatedly from house to house).
When viewing Phase II from the water, the red house gives a way to easily identify Silverock and perhaps best of all, it injects some casual whimsy to the feel of the development.”
The red house is gone for now, but there’s always a possibility that a red house sneaks into Phase III. It was an interesting experiment from the Tracey Interiors team and Dungan Nequette architects.
